Calvin Barr is just some guy at all times. Oh yeah, and she ran for President in 2012. Yet in the revival, Dan is still alive - with the writers explaining his death was still part of Roseanne’s book. It is far more gripping as an understated character study than it is as a wild B-movie. Barr is realizing that our collective days are numbered, and that we all will have to wind down and ultimately die, (or walk off into the sunset, as the case maybe) regardless of how adventurous our lives have been. I think the wooden box represents something related to embracing life again, an adventure he has never had the guts to pursue. I’m not really sure, so let my know what you think: I also think this film is an allegory about regret and coming to terms with this regret. The two larger than life heroes fight to the death, until finally, Barr shoots the beast to death.
