I needed a lighter novel to read, so I chose this one. This is a story of old family secrets, unrequited love and murder and betrayal. There's so much scope in this world, and the characters are so good, that it's hard to see any reason Hambly should stop anytime in the foreseeable future. This is the first book I have read in the Cooper and Fry series so I admit I'm a bit of a gatecrasher wading in half way through so I'm not the best person to comment on character development or earlier cases but here's my thoughts taking this book at face value.
