I gave it a 3 foot clearance from my fence. Armando, I have this tree in Chandler, AZ. It seems to thrive in Northeast Georgia even though our top soil is thin and sandy with hard clay underneath.

It was a skinny little stick when it arrived and I thought, "yeah, this will definitely take 4 years to fruit."

Today my persimmon tree is 22" tall with a number of developing branches and looks completely healthy and vigorous. I mixed in some garden soil and a lot dried leaves with the native soil to loosen it up and imy tree seems to be growing just fine now. I have five inches of new growth.

The one that survived is doing well this spring with lots of leaves already. This did no good. My "Ichi" began bearing at two years and by the third year we had 50 fruits on the tiny tree. In piedmont NC zone 7, this year we had a late frost and rained almost everyday in April, leaves appeared late April with flower buds (it was about 5" or so with 3-4 buds per branch). My tree is doing very well! I sometimes am discouraged by the homogoneity of plants that are grown by the majhority of nurseries. Zone 8b. I re-potted into a larger pot. So I'm ordering another one for my new residence. Also, Lead Farmer 73 raved about his "Bonita" Persimmon tree.
