The story was great, characters were very likable and bright. As such it offers some unique insight but is weaker on the big picture context.
It was my first romance, fluff book. I love this Jude Deveraux book so much that I would give it at least 8 stars. I've read many of the other books in this series and was hopeful this book would be good, but it didn't deliver. Breathtakingly beautiful and born of privilege, Edilean represents everything Angus despises. I have to admit it.
The book was published in multiple languages including English, consists of 384 pages and is available in Hardcover format. Please try your request again later.
Lots of wonderful, precise detail and personal histories of people involved, as well as theorizing on overarching themes and trends of the Gold Rush. So we get introduced to the town of Edilean in present day VA and then the author goes back to the past in Days of Glory to explain how the town was founded in the historical sense. Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2019. Perhaps a historical romance with some playful banter would do the trick?
I haven't loved many of Jude's books lately, but this one was an exception. Days of Gold by Jude Deveraux at OnRead.com - the best online ebook storage.
I like this story, but it wasn't perfect. Escape the Present with These 24 Historical Romances. Refresh and try again. I really liked the characters and the foundation of the core families of Edilean. Then, the last quarter totally fell apart, not literally but in the feeling of the book. Best part of the book! Unable to add item to List. One thing I didn't like: all the characters seemed to suddenly crowd in at the end of the book. I am glad to get the back ground info but still feel a bit left out of the family history. Really enjoyed this book. This book took me awhile to get into. Still, she dazzles him, and when Angus can no longer hide his feelings, she rejects him, leaving him deeply wounded and humiliated. Very few books has the heroine shooting at lover! I checked this out of the library audio book collection strictly because I wanted to hear the voice actor, Davina Porter, do more Scottish accents. Scarlet Nights: An Edilean Novel (Edilean Novels), "After dozens of novels, Deveraux has a sure hand evoking plucky heroines, dastardly villains and irresistible heroes, as well as a well-rounded supporting cast... the pace moves quickly and the romance sparks with enough voltage to keep readers turning pages." This Edilean series is still my favo. You are going to LOVE this book. Such a missed opportunity! The main characters of this romance, romance story are Angus McTern, Edilean Talbot. The romance, decisions and story development made sense and was thoroughly enjoyable to read then at the end, both Angus and Edilean started making choices completely against their characters.
It was my first romance, fluff book. Put a prideful and honourable Scotland guy together with a pampered oblivious to other peoples’ predicament English lady and you’ll get stressful reading. Later books in the series bring us to current day Edilean where the founding families hang on to the town their ancestors settled.
It was a lot of fun and easy to be whisked away to another time and place.
Be the first to ask a question about Days of Gold. I do like the way her characters grow and change, particularly when it is for the better. Please try again. The treasure is bound for America, but when Angus tries to seize it, he’s accused of kidnapping and theft and has to leave behind all that he knows to escape with Edilean to the new country. I checked this book out from my county library. The news spread across the continent, launching hundreds of ships and hitching a thousand prairie schooners filled with adventurers in search of heretofore unimagined wealth. by University of California Press, Days of Gold: The California Gold Rush and the American Nation. I also liked that the author made the female character strong and independent.
WRONG! There's lots of action and while the story begins in England it ends in America and we see a lot of historical US in this story. I have read out of order not realizing was a series, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
It has not helped matters any that I have not read the books in order. It was a lot of fun and easy to be whisked away to another time and place.

Unfortunately, the last 1/4 of the book was pretty lame, just an excuse to add more pages and perhaps some tension & angst to an otherwise great book.
But still fun. I knew next to nothing about this topic before I started reading this, and it was a very good primer. I just wish it took longer to read because I didn't want it to be over.
Morgan Jerkins Journeys Across the USA to Retrace Black History. But still fun.

Free download or read online Days of Gold pdf (ePUB) (Edilean Series) book. This is one of my texts for a class on Westward Expansion in the U.S., and I didn't budget my time well enough to read the entire thing... but I read most of it and wish I could linger more on it. I was surprised to see that this was a book number 2 because as I read the book I had the feeling it was number 1 and that I would like to read the next book.
Angus McTern is respected by the men of his clan and adored by the women. Whereas many Gold Rush "overview" books spend most of their time detailing the journey to the gold fields, Rohrbough spent a considerable amount of pages illustrating life in the camps. Something went wrong. I especially appreciated the close-up view of the 49ers daily life.
This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last! Please try again. This book started very well and with some LOL scenes that were very cute. I guess I'll have to find out what book 1 was and read that first. For most, this dream was elusive, and I appreciated how this book addressed the ways men dealt with their failures. None of her novels really lived up to the first one I read. There is not a woman on this earth who would not have at least demanded an explanation and some pretty serious begging first, let alone the strong woman Deveraux had worked so hard to develop.
I love learning about Angus & Edilean's story and how Herculean Virginia came about. We’d love your help. By the time Angus had left Edilean twice (once for 4 YEARS, then again for 6 weeks) without so much as a "good-bye", leaving her heart ripped apart and having to muddle through and make it on her own, I was confused. For years, she worked as 5th-grade teacher. You're listening to a sample of the Audible audio edition. On the morning of January 24, 1848, James W. Marshall discovered gold in California. This is one of those strange circumstances when I deliberately read books out of order.
