The story was great, characters were very likable and bright. As such it offers some unique insight but is weaker on the big picture context.

It was my first romance, fluff book. I love this Jude Deveraux book so much that I would give it at least 8 stars. I've read many of the other books in this series and was hopeful this book would be good, but it didn't deliver. I really liked the characters and the foundation of the core families of Edilean. Then, the last quarter totally fell apart, not literally but in the feeling of the book. Best part of the book! Unable to add item to List. One thing I didn't like: all the characters seemed to suddenly crowd in at the end of the book. I am glad to get the back ground info but still feel a bit left out of the family history. Really enjoyed this book. This book took me awhile to get into. Angus McTern is respected by the men of his clan and adored by the women. Whereas many Gold Rush "overview" books spend most of their time detailing the journey to the gold fields, Rohrbough spent a considerable amount of pages illustrating life in the camps. None of her novels really lived up to the first one I read. There is not a woman on this earth who would not have at least demanded an explanation and some pretty serious begging first, let alone the strong woman Deveraux had worked so hard to develop.

I love learning about Angus & Edilean's story and how Herculean Virginia came about. We’d love your help.
